The National Weather Service in Tucson has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
East Central Cochise County in southeastern Arizona...

* Until 430 PM MST.

* At 131 PM MST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the Chiricahua Mountains. Between 1 and 2 inches
of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Portal, Chiricahua National Monument, Rucker Canyon and Paradise.

This includes the following highways...
Route 181 between mile markers 48 and 64. Route 186 between mile
markers 357 and 359.

This includes the following Flash Flood Prone Locations...
Hwy 181 at Turkey Creek.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
Cave Creek, Keating Creek, Turkey Creek, East Turkey Creek,
Stanford Creek, Rucker Canyon, South Fork Keating Creek, Silver
Creek, Fivemile Creek, Onion Creek, Ash Creek, Wood Canyon, East
Whitetail Creek, Indian Creek, Leslie Creek, Witch Creek,
Whitewater Draw, Pridham Creek, West Whitetail Creek and Pinery
Creek.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures 101 to 106 in
Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties and 107 to 113 elsewhere. Major to
Extreme HeatRisk is expected.

* WHERE...Eastern Cochise County below 5000 feet, South Central Pinal
County, Southeast Pinal County, Tohono O'odham Nation, Tucson Metro
Area, Upper Gila River Valley, Upper San Pedro River Valley, Upper
Santa Cruz River Valley/Altar Valley, and Western Pima County.

* WHEN...From 10 AM Thursday to 8 PM MST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm overnight low temperatures of 84 to 90
degrees will provide little to no relief from heat overnight.
Warmest overnight low temperatures expected in the Western Deserts.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible and
drink plenty of water.
